Smith Dental Care is hiring a Dental Hygienist at our Athens location. We are a dental practice with soon-to-be 6 clinical office locations, open 7 days a week. Our full-time employees enjoy a schedule of 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts with 4 days off. One weekend day required. Our Hygienists each have an assistant that will help them to care for the most patients & to keep the flow of the office running smoothly.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head & neck inspection, dental charting & taking blood pressure & pulse
  • Taking & developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • Removing calculus & plaque (hard & soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
  • Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants & fluorides)
  • Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
    (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing & nutritional counseling)
  • Counseling patients about good nutrition & its impact on oral health
  • Making impressions of patients’ teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs)
  • Performing documentation & office management activities
